In a parallel universe, World War One is imminent as we follow the gripping story of human resistance fighters who march to battle against the second invasion of the Martians. In 1899, the Earth was attacked by ruthless invaders from the planet Mars. The Martians 80 ft tall, heat-ray spewing, Tripod battle machines laid waste to the planet, but the invaders ultimately fell prey to Earth s tiny bacteria. Fifteen years later, Man has rebuilt his shattered world, in large part by utilizing captured Martian technology. Equipped with giant, steam-powered Tripod battle machines, the international rapid reaction force, is Mankind s first line of defense against the return of the rapacious Martian invaders. And return the Martians do. The rematch finds the multinational battle squad tripod Goliath on the front-lines of a vicious interplanetary offensive.

"War of the Worlds-Goliath" is a retro-futuristic epic of steampunk battle set in 1914. It has been 15 years since the original H.G. Wells Martian invasion. Fearing another attack, the human race has prepared itself. This is the story of the battle tripod 'Goliath' and its young crew. 'Goliath' is the vanguard of an army of steam-powered battle walkers, heat-ray biplanes, and armored zeppelins facing a Martian fleet of giant fighting machines and flying wings. Within the cockpit of 'Goliath', courage under fire, conflicted loyalties and the struggle to save earth, in this new War of the Worlds.

I am not going to go into any other plot details here so no to ruin the film but I will say that I enjoyed the break from the now traditional films. I liked the anime style and I found it to be colorful lively and exciting to watch. The film has a simple story line and I did not find myself falling in love with the characters or caring about their well being but this is not a Disney movie after-all and all I really wanted was an entertaining sci-fi, action flick and that is what I got.

For what the budget was the film had great effects and loads of action which should and will satisfy all fans. As far as the voice acting went I thought it could of been a little better but again all things considered with budget and all the actors were fine.

The film took several years to finally get made and I am glad the filmmakers decided to see it through. I liked the mix of east and west as far as the anime goes and I hope there is more of this type of stuff coming in the future. If you are a fan of anime or just like i good sci-fi action flick then I highly recommend checking this out today.
