Cast: Tania Raymonde, Jesse Moss, Rumer Willis, Kristin Cavallari, Ryan Merriman, John White, Tia Carrere, Rob Schneider
Three hot high school seniors are shocked to discover their names in a legendary book that pairs the school’s virgins with football players. Outraged, the girls are determined to show the guys who’s really running the game of love and launch a series of hilarious, humiliating pranks to get back at the baffled boys in a hysterical battle of the sexes. Rumer Willis (90210), Tania Raymonde (Lost) and Kristin Cavallari (The Hills) star with Rob Schneider (Saturday Night Live) as an overprotective father reluctant to let his daughter grow up.
Considering "Wild Cherry" was made back in 2009 and is only getting a video release now might make some people a bit cautious about taking a look at it but it does have some good things going for it. From "Porky's" to "American Pie" everyone has seen at least one teenage sex comedy before but several differences sets this one apart from all the rest. For starters this one takes a different approach in that this film shown from the female side instead of the usual male perspective and though it does have it's raunchy moments there is also some other elements as well that make it a more rounder film with a bit more character development. You might be saying right about now, "who cares about the characters" but I just wanted to bring that point up because it does make the film a little unique you might say in terms of the genre. With that being said the main question to most men will be , is there hot chicks and loads of laughs? Well there are hot chicks and there are laughs, maybe not as much as usual since the film takes a little different approach to the genre but their still there. The characters here are people you may actually have some feeling for which brings me to the cast, Tania Raymonde does a really good job here playing the lead while Rumer Willis and Kristin Cavallari do a good job as well but not on the level Tania does. Rob Schneider is well, Rob Schneider, you know what you're getting with this guy but he's good at what he does and it's the same here as the father.
The bottom line here is I think most people will find this to be a lot better than they expected plus it's a film that will have a bit more appeal to it with it's elements of romance, it wants to be raunchy but it nice has a touch of charm and sweetness to it as well which means it may hit a larger audience than most comedies like it. "Wild Cherry" isn't a great film but it's much better than it should be mainly do some good writing and a competent lead. If you like the genre I recommend checking it out for yourself, this is one of those sex comedies that women and men can enjoy together because it has enough to offer for both. There are no extras to speak of with the film besides the trailer but that's not a big deal here. You can order the DVD HERE and the Blu-ray HERE.
