The Place For The Latest Movie Reviews
Cast: Duncan Casey, Justin Marosa and Samantha Schnitzler
After being thrown out of his home by his wife for being promiscuous, Mark finds himself back at Dumpling Farm, a place of youthful memories and parties, but things aren't quite right. His old buddy Ian, who has never left the place, is possessed by a group demonic, flesh eating Witches. Using Ian and his farm, these beautiful Witches honey trap Mark and his friends to consume their souls.
'Wicked Witches' tells the story of Mark who has just been thrown out by his wife for cheating on her. Not having anywhere else to go he heads to his friend's place, the Dumpling Farm.
After arriving it doesn't take long for Mark to realize that something isn't right with his friend, Ian. He is acting very strange and seems to be hiding something. To make matters worse Mark begins having nightmares about beautiful women, who are seducing him and then turning into evil witches. He even begins having the same visions while he is awake.
But none of it seems to bother him enough to leave and instead he plans a party on the farm with a group of friends. His buddy Ian allows it because he has fallen under the spell of a group of witches who plan on taking out the group of men one at a time.
'Wicked Witches' doesn't have much as far as story goes nor does it have any real character development but because the way the story is told it remains interesting enough until the action kicks in. You never really get to know Mark all that well to care about him but then again the guy cheated on his wife so most will be waiting for him to meet his fate. There is no back story to the witches either but again none of it seems to matter once you become engaged in the story.
The film moves along at a fairly slow pace until the party which is when the witches show up to seduce and then attack the men. Things go from good to bad for the guys quickly and what starts out as a fun night of getting high quickly turns into a fight for their lives.
Mark Pickering and Martin J Pickering who both wrote and directed the film did a great job providing a good amount of suspense and tension during the film's final act. They also did a great job of providing the right amount of blood and guts. Another good thing about the film was the acting, everyone in the film including Duncan Casey, Justin Marosa and Kitt Proudfoot were excellent.
'Wicked Witches' rises above its obvious flaws and it brings with it some wicked fun that is sure to please fans of horror. Witches are popular in horror films right now and this one packs enough of a bite to make it a hit among fans. The witches screams are enough to make the hair on the back of your neck stand up.
The film will hit the big screen in ten markets beginning August 9. It will also be available on VOD and DVD so be sure to check it out.
