The Place For The Latest Movie Reviews
Cast: David Graziano, Fiore Leo, Jessy Rowe, Keith Bennett
Johnny Boy goes on a routine job, things go awry when he meets a vulnerable young girl. His boss George sees her as a money making opportunity. Neither one has a clue of the deep dark secret that lays within the girl. Once revealed it will change the lives of these thugs forever.
"Under The Dark Wing" is the new 14 minute short from Writer/Director, Christopher Di Nunzio. The film deals with a couple low life thugs, Johnny Boy and his boss George. Johnny is sent to do a job, one that is not any different from any other job he has done before but this time things do not go as planned and his boss is not very happy. It seems the problem was in the form a young girl, her innocence and beauty mask what she or who she really is but Johnny Boy and George are about to find out.
Before the story had a chance to get started I was already impressed by its look, shot in black and white the cinematography really stood out as being something special but it really comes as no surprise when you find out that DP Nolan Yee was behind the look.
The story is original and unique, I liked that it had a film noir look with a sinister twist which is something I have not seen before so I was taken in by what was happening right from the start. It did not hurt that the dialogue was clever and smart either, credit that to Pedro Alvarado and Christopher Di Nunzio, both of whom enjoy the writing credits here. Another thing that took the film up another level was its outstanding cast, Fiore Leo was terrific as Johnny Boy and David Graziano nails it as George. I cannot talk about the cast without mentioning Jessy Rowe who plays the mysterious girl in the film, Jessy is a beautiful and talented young actress that looks to make a mark in cinema. And last but not least I have to mention Keith Bennett who gave a terrific performance it a supporting role.
"Under the Dark Wing" is one of those films that the least you know about it the better so I am not going to go into details about the plot here and ruin it for those waiting to see the film but I will say that I was engaged right from the start, the drama, suspense and mystery sucks you in right from the and it keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire time as you wait to see what is going to happen next. The film also has a lasting affect, I was left thinking about it all long after it was over.
"Under The Dark Wing" is another well-polished film from a Director who continues to shine, I would like to congratulate Christopher Di Nunzio and his entire cast and crew for creating such an effective and entertaining film. I suggest checking out the film's Facebook page HERE to keep up on the film and to find out where and when you might have a chance to see it.
