The Place For The Latest Movie Reviews
Cast: Cast: Omar Epps ("House," "This Is Us" Season 4), Ellen Adair (“Homeland”, “The Sinner”), Kristina Reyes (“Blindspot”, “Shades of Blue”), Jamie Kennedy (Scream franchise), and Tom Atkins (Escape From New York, Halloween III: Season of the Witch)
On Halloween night in 2015, Patrick “Trick” Weaver massacred his classmates at a costume party. After being arrested, he managed to escape police custody, but not before being shot five times by Detective Mike Denver (Epps). Everyone believes Trick must be dead, but when a masked killer reappears the following Halloween, and every Halloween after that, they realize the nightmare is not over. With Trick wreaking havoc and killing innocent people in increasingly terrifying ways, Denver will stop at nothing to finish what he started and bring the carnage to an end.
'Trick' tells the story of Detective Mike Denver who has been hunting a serial killer who goes by the name of "Trick" since 2015 when he first appeared. Everyone was Trick was killed that Halloween back in 2015 but as each year passes and a new Halloween comes Trick once again goes on a rampage killing innocent people and leaving a trail of blood behind.
The first 13 minutes of 'Trick' is intense, bloody and totally awesome. It sets the tone for the rest of the film with more action and killings within that time frame than most horror films have in total. The film then settles in a little so we can get to know the characters and get some background on Trick but the problem is the authorities can't identify who is really is because at the time of his capture he had make-up on under his mask and later they never could find the body.
Each Halloween brings more killings and even more mystery surrounding who the killer could be. So on top of being a blood fest the film also has a lot of suspense and loads of mystery and none of the mystery gets solved until the very end when you are presented with a fantastic twist-filled climax.
Director, Patrick Lussier is known for his work on My Bloody Valentine (2009), Terminator Genisys (2015) and Scream (1996). He does a terrific job keeping 'Trick' moving at a fast past while telling the story by Todd Farmer and Patrick Lussier who have written a clever tale while keeping the the action and blooding flowing.
Another thing that made the film so good was the cast which includes, Omar Epps, Ellen Adair, Kristina Reyes, Jamie Kennedy and the legend, Tom Atkins. The supporting cast were all terrific as well.
'Trick' is a very entertaining horror film that I highly recommend checking out when it comes to DVD and Blu-ray on December 17, 2019 . Try to avoid reading spoilers so not the ruin the surprises. Just sit back and witness Trick, a nasty slasher and new horror icon.
