The Place For The Latest Movie Reviews

After a blow to the head during his attempted robbery of a $27 million Goya painting, Simon, a fine-art auctioneer, awakens to find that the painting - and his memory - are missing. "Trance" looked good to me going off the trailer and the cast alone makes this a must watch but in the end I thought it could of been so much better. At first I loved the story, the twists early on really got me engaged in the film because it has you always wanting to know more. Then about halfway through the movie all the twists began to become a bit boring. It made me feel like Director, Boyle was just tossing more twists in the fun for the hell of it and it started to become a bit ridiculous. And finally the ending, sadly I saw it coming a mile away.
I suppose many might think the movie is a major letdown with all the bad things I have written about it so far but it is not a total wash out. The acting in the film from its three leads, James McAvoy, Vincent Cassel and Rosario Dawson and the supporting cast were all excellent as well. I also liked what Boyle was attempting to do here, "Trance" is definitely different with its back and forth storylines which keeps you off guard the entire time, if it had been done a bit differently this could of been something special instead it turned out to be a little above average for me but certainly better than a lot of films today.
I purposely avoided talking about the plot here because the least you know about the story the better off you are, being kept in the dark is half the fun with this one. Available on DVD and Blu-ray, Both come with Special Features that include:

I was disappointed with the film but that doesn't mean it wasn't enteraining. Most mainstream movie-goers will find this to be a solid thriller so keep and up and judge it for yourself.
