You can certainly compare 'The Toybox' to other possessed vehicle films like "Christine" for example but it brings with it some original ideas and a new setting for horror, an RV.
It doesn't take the film long to introduce to the killer RV, when a young boy on a bike passes the RV its door opens. Curious the young boy enters the RV only to have the car slam shut on him and in the process he is killed. It then switches to Charles and his family as they are getting ready to go on a road trip. Along the way strange things begin to happen like the ac doesn't work, the radio has a mind of its own and the windows don't open.
While driving they run into a brother and sister who have broken down on the road. Lucky for them Charles and his family happened to be passing by so they offer them a lift into town after they make another stop. Out of food and water and stuck in the middle of the desert they must figure out a way to escape the RV and its haunted past before there is no one left.
'The Toybox' is a very enjoyable horror flick with awesome tension and suspense, great kills and a cast that deliver. The film has some familiar faces in Denise Richards and Mischa Barton. Both ladies look amazing and are terrific in their roles. The rest of the ensemble cast did a great job as well. The film has a great pace to it and it looks terrific thanks to Director, Tom Nagel who follows up his 2016 gem, "ClownTown" with another film that is sure to gain him more of a following.
As the film moves along it slowly builds on suspense, anticipation and mystery but once the RV begins to take over fear and desperation sets in. This is a frightening and creepy film that tells the story of horrific acts of violence that took place inside the RV at the hands of a serial killer.
