"The Poltergeist of Borley Forest" had one thing going for it, a decent and interesting story. Sure it needed some work but the basic ideas were all in place and it even has a twist at the end but the film goes really goes anywhere. The film starts off very slow and it sadly remains that way for a good part of the running time, when things do happen they are too lackluster to save it. I blame the acting and the poor special effects on most of the problems though I can defend the effects some what because of the film's obvious budget restrains. The acting on the other hand needed a shot in the arm that it never got. The acting is so flat that you never really care for any of the characters in the film which really lets the story down. This is one of those movies that could of been so much better with a more experienced cast and a bit more money to use towards effects.
I like to find something good in every movie I watch especially Indie titles but besides the basic story line I just could not find anything worth while here so I cannot even recommend seeing this one. The art work and the bold lettering on the cover for THE POLTERGEIST is sure to get people's attention but I thing most are going to find it to be a real letdown.
