Claire was just a child when her best friend was abducted and murdered. Twenty-five years later, the killer has served his time and is due to be released. Claire is approached by Bill, the dead boy’s father, who has a plan to keep the killer behind bars. With the help of psychic Eleanor, he takes them deep into the haunted moor which he believes is his son’s final resting place. They find more than just the ghosts of dead children out there - something else, something dark and evil, stirs beneath their feet.

'The Moor' is one of those films that needs a special audience to appreciate it. I it a slow moving ,character driven drama and horror film doesn't have a lot of action at all but it relies on its cast and atmosphere to draw the audience in and keep them engaged.

The film does a great job at developing the characters such as the young boys father and Claire, who was with the boy when he was abducted and has returned to him his father find his body in order to lay him to rest and to keep the man responsible behind bars for good.

As I already, the film will require a lot of patience so if you are strictly a mainstream movie goer this one might be a tough one for you to sit through. But if you like a horror film that gets in your head and under your skin and demands you think to then this is you for you. I am careful to say that the film might be a little too long but it still manages to create enough chills and atmosphere to keep you spooked and engaged the entire time.

The moors alone are like another character in the film and are responsible for a lot its suspense and mood. Director, Chris Cronin has done a number os short films and this is his feature film debut. All I can say is I look forward to seeing what he does next. All I can say is he is a film maker worth keeping an eye out for. Lastly, I can't close out this review without mentioning the amazing cast which includes, Sophia La Porta, David Edward-Robertson, Elizabeth Dormer-Phillips as well as the late British acting legend, Bernard Hill. Everyone played an important part in the film and played it well.

The Moor' is a brooding, atmospheric and terrifying horror film that I highly recommend check it out when it opens in UK Cinemas from 14th June and on Digital HD from 1st July.
