In 1972, five young women looking for a fresh start in life become part of a radical experiment studying the effects of weed on women. Despite the agendas of the government, they use their unique strengths, and friendship to overcome adversity.
'The Marijuana Conspiracy' tells the story of five out of the 20 women who volunteered to spend 96 days in a hospital smoking marijuana. They had around the clock nurses and staff to monitor the effects not only on their mental state but on their Psychical state as well.
After being put through all of this those in charge of running and funding the project put a sudden stop to it because they were not receiving the data that fit their agendas.
The film has an amazing cast of mostly women and everyone in the film did a great job playing their characters who were all dealing with life in different ways.
Technically the film looks great. They did a great job bringing the 70's back to life with the settings, wardrobe and the music. If I were to have one complaint, it would be that the film felt a little long. It could have lost a half hour off its run time.
I was taken in by the story and the five women. Writer/Director, Craig Pryce did a great job developing the characters and it was very easy to care for each one. The film addressed a few things that are still a problem today like discrimination and homosexuality. To this day the ladies are still waiting to hear the results of their experiment but I suppose it will never be released.
I had a good time watching the film and found it extremely informative since I had never here about this study before hand. 'The Marijuana Conspiracy' will be on Demand and Digital on April 20, 2021 so be sure to check it out.
