Story centers around a depressed mute serial killer tormented in his house by the ghost of his victims. On the morning he's set to kill himself he's visited by a sudden walk-in client in need of a photo shoot.
'The Deserving' isn't your typical horror movie which is why I don't want to go into what happens so not to ruin the film for those wanting to see it. The story tells the a tale of guilt, revenge and how abuse at a young age can turn someone in to a person they don't want top be.
'The Deserving' works on many levels and for many reasons including the work of Writer/Director, Koka Singh Arora. His story telling is unique and his direction keeps you on the edge of your seat. This is very impressive considering it is his feature debut. He also is very good as the boy's father in the film. Venkat Sai Gunda is amazing as the mute serial killer, Simone Stadler and Kelsey Stalter are both impressive in the film as well.
The film is a slow burn but never boring, and it is scary, creepy, suspenseful, and tension filled with atmosphere so think you need a knife to cut through it. 'The Deserving' was done on a limited budget but makes up for it in style, impressive effects, and a story you might not be able to stop thinking about. The film won numerous awards, including:
