The Place For The Latest Movie Reviews
Cast: Anne Bobby, Andrew Lyndaker, Beth Somerville, Dan Domingues
Suffer the Little Children is based on the short story by Stephen King. The short follows the decline of an aging teacher, Ms. Sidley (Anne Bobby), who believes her students are being taken over by something evil.
"Suffer the Little Children" tells the story of Ms. Emily Sidley, an aging school teacher who has no children of her own or any other family for that matter. She would probably be retired by now but teaching the little children seems to give her life purpose. But when she suspects something is wrong with her class she decides to take matters into her own hands.
Director, Corey Norman and Writer, Haley Norman take Stephen King's Short Story and they bring it to life in all its awesomeness. King himself has to be proud of this amazing film. Staying true to the story Director, Corey Norman takes his time fleshing out the story and introducing us to its characters which includes the school teacher, Ms. Emily Sidley and the main student, Robert who gets her attention right from the start.
I loved the way the film slowly built the mood, atmosphere and suspense right before it unleashes its shocking, frightening and gripping climax that will haunt you long after the credits have finished rolling. I am not going to go into major plot details here so not to ruin the film for those waiting and wanting to see it but I will say this is both a disturbing and delightful piece of cinema that I highly recommend checking out.
The film is beautifully shot and the sound is such as impressive. And then there's the cast, Anne Bobby(Clive Barker's Nightbreed, The Hanover House, Born on the Fourth of July, Happiness) gives an amazing performance as Ms. Emily Sidley. I can see her winning numerous festival awards for her brilliant acting in the lead role. Another stand out for me was Andrew Lyndaker who did a fantastic job playing young Robert. I know I haven't seen the last of this talented young actor. The rest of the supporting cast gave excellent performances as well.
"Suffer the Little Children" had its world premiere at the HorrorHound Film Festival in Indianapolis where it took home won two awards including Best Short Film and Best Actress (Anne Bobby). This is only the beginning and I see lots of success for Director, Corey Norman and his entire cast and crew ahead. This is one of those films that slowly works its way into your head and then all of a sudden you are picking your jaw up from the floor still in shock over what you just witnessed. You are going to be disturbed by this film long after it is over and that is what I call great film making.
