The Place For The Latest Movie Reviews
Cast: Miley Cyrus, Jeremy Piven, Joshua Bowman, Kelly Osbourne
She may be a tough-as-nails, street-smart private investigator, but when Molly is drafted by the FBI to go undercover in a college sorority, she quickly discovers she’s way out of her element amongst a sisterhood of snooty, high maintenance, materialistic college girls. But Molly accepts the top-secret mission in order to protect the daughter of a key witness in a case against the mob.
I went into this with low expectations, after all you have a film with Miley Cyrus who plays a girl own does some private investigation work with help from her dad, mainly taking photos of unfaithful spouses until she gets asked to go to school undercover. I have to admit that the film really looked to be a complete failure in every sense but it wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting it to be. One of the reasons why it was better than perhaps it should of been is because Director, Tom Vaughan makes the most out of a script that could of horribly wrong. Now don't get me wrong there are some very lame jokes going on here and the acting isn't going to win any awards and on top of that the film isn't really anything new but I found to be fast moving, funny at times and it has few nice twists along the way to keep you off guard as far as who the bad guy is.
Miley Cyrus isn't the best actress around but she's not half bad either and she definitely gets some help from a cast that includes Jeremy Piven and Kelly Osbourne. Like I said there are some dumb jokes in the film but it does have some very funny moments as well. One of my favorite performances in the film came from Megan Park who plays Cotton, a "dumb" blonde in the college, her character supplies many of the film's funnier moments. I don't think this film will help Miley break out of her stereotype but lets face it she is pretty good at comedy. "So Undercover" is a better film than most will give it credit for, some might even bash it without seeing it so if you like comedy then I suggest picking this up and checking it out for yourself.
I enjoyed the film much more than expected but I think most will if they give it a chance, the story gets much better as it moves along, that combined with it's likeable cast makes it an enjoyable and fun film. Fan's of miley are going to give the film a much higher rating and those that don't like her are going to bash it regardless, I found it to be slightly better than average which was a pleasant surprise on my end.
