The Place For The Latest Movie Reviews
Cast: Ronen Rubinstein, Grace Phipps, Sierra McCormick, Spencer Breslin, Michael Polish
Relentless bullying has turned Lincoln’s life into a nightmare. But he soon learns the true meaning of terror when he is sent to a remote school for troubled teens and the harassments start all over again. Only this time, someone is watching – a teenage girl named Moira who was driven to suicide by vicious bullying years ago. When Lincoln accidentally summons Moira from the grave, he unleashes a vengeful and unstoppable force on a mission of blood-soaked revenge.
Lincoln has been bullied all his life but especially in school. One day when the local bully is attacking him Lincoln snaps and stabs the kid in the face with a fork but instead of understanding what Lincoln has gone through he sent instead to a school for troubled teens in the middle of nowhere. The first thing Lincoln doesn't like about the place is that they do not allow cell phones and all his music is on his cell phone. The music he listens to helps him escape his life if only for a short time. But things get worse, another kid at the school begins bullying Lincoln as well but he doesn't want to fight back. One day after being attacked he runs to the basement and by saying he wishes they were all dead he brings back to Moira, a young girl who was bullied years before and committed suicide because of it. Now that Moira is back from the grave she is looking to extract revenge on those responsible for bullying both her and Lincoln. But when the killings don't stop Lincoln must figure out a way to end it before he too ends up dead.
"Some Kind of Hate" has its flaws, for starters the characters could have been more developed because it is hard to care about most of them in the film and some of the characters do some pretty unrealistic stuff but you know what? I enjoyed this film, possibly a bit more than I should have. Lincoln is the most developed character and it was easy to care about him which is a plus since he is the main character in the film. Another character I liked was Kaitlin, a girl who befriends Lincoln and the two strike up a bit of a romance as the story moves along.
Production wise the film looks good and the setting of the school being in the middle of nowhere creates that nowhere to hide, nowhere to run feel. So, this is a horror movie and most are probably wondering if it is any good? Like I said before it has its issues and the characters could have been more developed, especially the bad guys but the film does have a good amount of something all horror fan’s crave and that is blood. Once Moira is back she doesn't take long to get down to business and there are plenty of bloody kills for all to enjoy.
Acting wise everyone did a good job with what they had to work with including, Ronen Rubinstein as Lincoln, Grace Phipps as Kaitlin and Sierra McCormick as Miora. I liked the film enough to recommend a watch, I am sure some will like it more than I did while others will like it less but I think there's enough good things about the film especially the killings to give it a go.
