The Place For The Latest Movie Reviews
It's Christmas Eve and three cos-playing women break into Santa Land for some partying and fun! What they don’t expect is to come across the malevolent Christmas demon Krampus! The girls must team up with Santa Claus himself (played by The Rocky Horror Picture Show's Barry Bostwick) to battle the creature and save the world!
It is Christmas Eve and cos-players Dahlia and Sadie are going on their latest adventure to visit the now closed amusement par, Santa Land. This time they are bringing along their friend Alexi. After arriving in the small town they go to a small seedy bar and find out there has been children killed in town and the police department has no clue who the killer might be. The girls seem a little alarmed by this news but decide to continue on to their destination anyway.
Shortly after arriving they are confronted by and chased by what they think is a big bear but after holding up in a small cabin they are shocked to see the appearance of Santa himself. Santa goes on to tell the girls that the creature they saw was no bear but instead it was the devilish Krampus himself who escaped his frozen prison and who is the one responsible for killing the children and women in town. But Krampus seems to have a different motive for his nasty deeds, a motive Santa can't seem to figure out. Now Santa and the girls will have to team up in order to stop Krampus before it is too late or everyone.
'Slay Belles' is a horror/comedy that spreads Christmas cheer in a grusome yet fun way. The film is full of blood, laughs and a number of plot twists which includes Mrs. Claus herself. The twists keep the film interesting while the cast and mayhem keep the audience entertained.
One thing that stood out to me was the film's special effects. Krampus looks awesome and mean and both the practical and special effects used were amazing especially for a low budget film. Another thing that stood out was the acting. Everyone in the film did a terrific job including, Hannah Wagner, Susan Slaughter and Kristina Klebe. The three Cos-play girls give fun performances all around. The terrific acting doesn't stop there though because you also have Barry Bostwick as Santa. He is hilarious in the role and his comedic talent never stops amazing me. Another stand out performance for me came from Diane Salinger who plays the bar owner and one other character that I will not spoil here.
One of the things that I was pleased with was the film's ability to keep surprising the audience. Director, SpookyDan Walker did a fantastic job telling the tale, telling the back stories and keeping the film moving at a great pace. Combine that with its badass villain and its unlikely group of heroes and you get one of the most twisted and fun Christmas tales ever told. If you like your Christmas movies with a bit of mayhem then I highly recommend checking out this little gem when it comes to DVD, Blu-ray and VOD 12/4/18.
