The Place For The Latest Movie Reviews
Cast: Joseph Myers, Caroline Gutierrez, Alexandra Adomaitis, David Cozzo
In modern Miami, gleaming new condo skyscrapers become the backdrop to this Film noir thriller.
After several beautiful models are murdered by a disguised killer, a young, successful fashion photographer becomes the prime suspect. As more women are murdered, he finds himself in a race to clear his name and save his own life, and in the process, uncovers some dark secrets hidden behind the glass and concrete facade of the magic city.
"Murder in Miami" wastes no time in getting started, as the film opens we see a beautiful young lady arriving home to her penthouse apartment but as she settles in for a relaxing evening a person with a disguise appears and brutally murders her. This is the first of several murders that plague Miami. There seems to be a serial killer on the prowl who is killing local models and the police have a prime suspect in photographer James Romero but he insists he is innocent. Not he will do everything it takes to clear his name and find the killer before his life comes to an end as well.
"Murder in Miami" was a mixed bag for me. For starters I like the De Palma feel but I also felt a good bit of Argento as well. I also enjoyed the film's opening scene that really set the stage for what was to come. Now on to what I did not like as well, I thought the acting was weak at times from both the lead actors and the supporting cast. I also thought that the nudity at times was just on display for no other reason than the obvious, now do not get me wrong I enjoyed the boobs and the half naked women but I do think it was a bit needless at times.
Still though I enjoyed the film and it's numerous twists and turns but with some better acting and perhaps a little editing this could of been a real gem but if you like film's like "The Body Double" then I recommend checking this one out. I liked the film but felt it never reached it's potential and at times it felt like a parody to me, it is hard to explain without causing spoilers so I will leave it at that but if you like erotic thrillers be sure to check it out for yourself.
