Cast: Lynn Lowry, Tiffany Shepis, Brian Fortune, Carmine Capobianco, Michael Thurber, Suzi Lorraine and Aurelio Voltaire
The directorial debut of horror icon Debbie Rochon. Former model and actress Ginny (Lynn Lowry) had been cast aside by the modeling industry when she was a young woman due to her body type - and she didn't take the rejection well. When new neighbors Debbie and Sal move in, they begin to notice strange things happening, as the list of missing young women begins to grow. What has Ginny been doing in her basement all these years, and can she be stopped'
"Model Hunger" tells the story of Ginny, an ex model who is still bitter after her career was cut short for what they said were thinner models. Ginny is so angry that she drugs, tortures and eats all the young ladies she happens to meet a long the way. But when Debbie and Sal move in next door Debbie starts suspecting Ginny of doing some terrible things. As time goes by Debbie begins to feel, it is her job to put an end to Ginny's reign of terror once and for all.
"Model Hunger" has a lot going for it, for starters it is the directorial debut of Scream Queen, Debbie Rochon. It is hard to believe after all these years that this is her first crack at directing but it is never too late and I have to say this is a hell of a debut. The story is pretty simple so I am not going to give anymore away so not to ruin the film for those waiting to see it but I will say it is the kind of horror film that gets your interest right from the start and it just gets better as it moves along.
The film's biggest strengths are it's writing and its cast. The dialogue is intense and at times really nasty. A Ginny lurks the young women into her home and plays nice with them we get to hear what she really thinks through her thoughts and let me just say it is not nice.
The acting is the film's biggest asset, with a cast like Brian Fortune, Tiffany Shepis and Suzi Lorraine how can you go wrong but then you bring in Lynn Lowry who still looks amazing by the way to play Ginny and you have a cast to die for. Everyone does a fantastic job in the film but it is Lowry's over the top and insane performance that makes this a real gem. Independent horror fans are going to love her sick and twisted performance throughout the film but don't worry she saves the best for last.
The film was done on a shoe string budget and production wise it shows at times but the effects are fantastic and there are plenty of blood and gore to please each and every fan. I would call "Model Hunger" a sick and delicious horror film. Available now on DVD with Special Features that include:
