The Place For The Latest Movie Reviews
Cast: David Arquette (Scream franchise, Never Been Kissed), Jennifer Esposito ("The Boys", "NCIS"), Jamie-Lynn Sigler ("The Sopranos," "Guys with Kids"), and PJ Byrne (The Wolf of Wall Street)
It is a story about the famed meeting of the heads of the Mafia in 1957 in upstate Apalachin, NY. 'Mob Town' tells the story of New York State Trooper, Edgar D. Croswell. During his time in law enforcement Croswell would become a member of the New York State Organized Crime Task Force but it was his work he did in 1957 that would lead to the arrests of approximately 60 mob members that he is most remembered for.
'Mob Town' tells that time in his career when no one would listen to him when he told there that something big was going down. I felt the film could have used a bit more time to time the story especially with all the characters that were involved in it but over-all I found it to be entertaining.
The cast is another reason why the film is good. David Arquette is known more for his comic roles but he is great here as Edgar D. Croswell and veteran actor Robert Davi shines as Vito Genovese. He also supplies some of the film's humor which is sprinkled throughout. The rest of the cast which features Jennifer Esposito, Danny A. Abeckaser and P.J. Byrne to name a few are all terrific as well. Director, Danny A. Abeckaser did a great job telling the tale within its hour and a half run time and while the story is a drama he did a great job at tossing in some of the humor to lighten it up at times.
'Mob Town' is an engaging crime tale that keeps its audience glued to the screen by not wasting a second on anything other than what matters to the story and a cast that deliver on bringing their characters to life.
As I stated before I think the film could have used a bit more run time to flesh it out a little better but as it is still an enjoyable piece of cinema just the way it is. Saban Films will release the thriller MOB TOWN in theaters, on VOD and Digital HD on Friday, December 13, 2019 so do yourself a favor and be sure to check it out.
