Max and Missy have been best friends for as long as they can remember, and now Max is falling in love with her. But strange things start happening to him at school. He can see through walls, hear distant voices, and he suddenly has super-human strength! When students start mysteriously disappearing after school Max and his friends stumble upon a sinister plot by his teachers to take over the world. And when they kidnap Missy, Max must put his new found superpowers to the test to save the girl he loves.
Max lost his parents in a car accident when he was very little and since then he has lived with his grandparents who know a little about having special powers. Max starts experiencing his powers while in school, one day when he is called to the chalk board to solve a problem he all of a sudden is able to see through the board and into the classroom next to him, at first he doesn't think much of it but one day while in gym class he is forced to wrestle a kid much bigger and stronger than he is. After taking a beating and put in a head lock that is cutting off his air he realizes he has strength he didn't know he had either and easy takes the kid out, he instantly comes a hero around school for taking out the bully. His grandparents want to tell him about his powers but the time never seems right, until one day Max and his friends uncover a plot by the teachers to take over the world when students begin to go missing. When Missy, his best from and first love is taken he must use all his powers to safe her and the world. "Missy and The Maxinator" is a Independent, family film which is aimed towards kids 12 and up so there are certain parts of the film parents or grownups in general might notice that kids easily over-look like the acting which is weak in some spots. I only point that out so you know what to expect here but over-all this is an enjoyable little action-packed film that has some comedy and even some tender moments as well in it. Even though it is a fantasy film kids will be able to relate to the child characters well thanks to Director/Writer, D.J. Lynch who manages to bring some good messages as well as a nice coming of age story into the proceedings while still keeping the story light and fun to watch. Dove approved and for good reason, the film clearly has it's target audience figured out. I enjoyed the film and think many grownups might enjoy it too but the main goal here was to create some innocent fun for the kids and the film does a great job at doing so. We can never have enough of this kind of entertainment for our young ones so I applaud everyone involved in making the film for doing such a fantastic job in every way.
If you have pre-teens in the house then I suggest picking this one up, it will make a great stocking stuffer and it's a film you don't have to be afraid of your kids watching. The DVD comes with Special Features that include:
