The Place For The Latest Movie Reviews
Cast: Method Man, Tom Pelphrey, Natalie Hall, Malcolm Goodwin, Milena Govich
The film is inspired by an incredibly bizarre true story, when a friend of the film’s writer/producer Michael Cuccolo received the old cell number of Alex “A-Rod” Rodriguez, superstar third baseman of the New York Yankees.
Bret, an aspiring sportscaster, serendipitously finds his phone contains the old cell number of his idol, basketball superstar Tyson ‘The Saint’ St. James. Bret uses his newfound access to gain entrance for him and his buddies into exclusive VIP events and clubs, all while trying to impress the girl of his dreams. His lucky streak comes to a halt when 'The Saint' gets wind of what he’s up to. Will the #Lucky Number become Bret’s shortcut to success or his path to destruction?
What would you do if you got a celebrities old phone number? Would you return to the store and get a new one or would you decide to use it for personal gain? When Bret gets the old phone number from his idol, basketball superstar, Tyson ‘The Saint’ St. James him and his buddies, Paz and G decide to use it for their own gain including V.I.P. invitations, hot ladies and a lifestyle that rivals the stars. Bret also gets to meet Jules, the woman of his dreams and the daughter of the New York basketball team’s owner. The two immediately hit it off and the three boys continue on with their partying ways but you just know it is all going to come crashing down on Bret and it does when The Saint finds out that Bret is using his old phone number for personal gain. Bret ends up losing everything including a job as a sportscaster but more importantly he loses the girl of his dreams. Can he make things right and win back Jules' heart?
"#Lucky Number" wastes no time getting down to business. Right out of the gate the film had me hooked and laughing like crazy. This is old school comedy like Hollywood use to make when they were not afraid of being politically or socially correct. The film is raunchy, sexy and it hits hilariously hard. A knock out of a comedy that is one of the best guilty pleasures I have had in a long time.
"#Lucky Number" is a smart, witty and die laughing comedy that is only made better by its amazing cast. I am not going to point out just one actor because this was more an ensemble cast, each and every actor in the film did a terrific job including Method Man as The Saint, Tom Pelphrey as Bret, Malcolm Goodwin as G, Joseph Russo as Paz and the beautiful Natalie Hall as Nikki.
Finally an adult comedy that has no shame and it doesn't worry about whom it might offend. I was worried these kinds of movies were long gone but thanks to Director, Brendan Gabriel Murphy and Writer's, David Cornue and Michael Cuccolo laughter wins out. If you miss all those great adult comedies from the past rejoice in knowing "#Lucky Numbers" has put them back on the map. I wish this was getting some kind of theater release because I really believe it would do well but instead the film is getting a VOD release across all platforms in the USA on September 1st 2015, and DVD on October 6th 2015. So do yourself a favor and check it out. You can visit the film's Official site HERE for more information. As you can tell by my review, I enjoyed this film a lot and I was left with a smile on my face. I recommend this to anyone that enjoys a good adult comedy.
