"Kidnapped Souls" wastes no time getting started. As the film opens Detectives are interviewing a young woman who claims she was kidnapped and tortured by a masked man. She also claims that she was not the only one that was there. She tells the Detectives that they were all chained inside a run down barn in the middle of nowhere. As Nikki begins to tell what happened the film flashes back to tell the story.
The basic plot about some nut job kidnapping people and torturing them has been done numerous times before but "Kidnapped Souls" takes that simple premise and goes the extra mile with it. I am not going to sit here and spoil the film for those that are waiting to see it but I can tell you that there is plenty of tension and suspense to keep you on the edge. There is also a good bit of mystery to keep you guessing and wanting to know more about what happened. And then there are the twists and come as the film moves along which end up revealing the truth. Nothing is as it seems in this clever horror/thriller.
Besides having a great script the film also benefits from having a cast that really delivers on their characters. Monica Engesser is amazing as Nikki. Jose Yenque and Noel Gugliemi are also great as the two Detectives assigned to the cast and the rest of the supporting cast were fantastic as well.
"Kidnapped Souls" is a Indie film that entertains from beginning to end, the story grabbed my attention right from the start and I could not take my eyes off it till the shocking end. There is a lot to like about this film, plenty of tense moments, a good back story on the characters and a cast that really delivers.
"Kidnapped Souls is a serial killer film with a supernatural twist. I highly recommend this to horror fans. You can order the DVD HERE.
