The Place For The Latest Movie Reviews

Director: Mike Disa
The good... the bad... the Twitchy. The sequel finds our heroine, Red (Hayden Panettiere), training with a mysterious covert group called the Sisters of the Hood. But Red is forced to cut her training short when she gets an urgent call from Nicky Flippers (David Ogden Stiers), the head of the super secret Happily Ever After Agency, aka the HEA. A wicked witch (Joan Cusack) has abducted two innocent children, Hansel (Bill Hader) and Gretel (Amy Poehler), and Nicky needs the whole Hoodwinked gang -- Red, Granny (Glenn Close), the ever-clueless Wolf (Patrick Warburton) and his over-caffeinated little partner, Twitchy (Cory Edwards) -- for the search and rescue mission.
I am one of many that simply loved the original film, it's clever story and mix for fairy tale characters in an original setting not to mention the laughs that came by the buckets made it an original and fun film for everyone. So when the sequel came out I was excited to check it out. Immediately after coming out it began to receive a lot of negative press which was too bad because they really had something with the first film. I am not going to go into details about the plot since what is written above pretty much tells you all you need to know. So what did I think of the movie? Well for starters I have to agree with a lot of the bad press at least to an extent, the film lacks the cleverness and heart of the first film which is sad because there was so much potential here. Even the amazing cast of voice actors here have very little to work with. Now I am saying all this as a critic and as an adult so on the flip side of things the young ones that loved the original film are sure to find this one to be just as fun, after-all kids are not critical of such things and only want to have fun so I can safely say if you have little ones then this is worth picking up, my rating of the film is because the targeted audience here is going to enjoy the film. My rating might seem higher than most but I take everything into consideration before making judgement.
I too got some enjoyable out of it, I didn't laugh as much or wasn't taken in by the story or characters as much as the original but I still had a good time watching it. I am a huge Patrick Warburton fan and can watch him in anything, he doesn't get the chance to be as funny in this one as the first but his wolf character is still a highlight here to me. Sequels are hardly ever as good as the original film so in a way I wasn't expecting it to be as good but it did have the potential to be so much more than it turned out to be. On the good side Red (Panetiere), Granny (Close), Twitchy and the Wolf are back in an all new fast moving adventure that children are sure to love and as far as adults go just don't expect as much out of this one and you are sure to find some fun in it as well.
