The Place For The Latest Movie Reviews
Cast: Ashton Leigh, Brandon DeSpain, Constantin Tripes, Max Rhyser, Robert MacNaughton
Dr. Victor Frankenstein and Egyptologist Naihla Khalil are both professors at a leading medical university. Victor’s latest grisly “experiment” is the re-animated corpse of a sadistic madman and Naihla’s most recent find is the cursed mummy of an evil pharaoh. When the two monsters face-off in an epic showdown, no one is safe from the slaughter. Can the murderous rampage be stopped and the carnage contained before it’s too late?
Most movie trailers make a film look better than it actually is but I found this film to be a bit better than the trailer suggested. Do not get me wrong this is not a great film by any means but it was more enjoyable than I expected it to be.
There is a lot going on in the film early on as it introduces us to the main characters and both stories, the Frankenstein side of it and The Mummy side. There is not a lot of things exciting happening especially early on but the film does have a few gruesome killings along the way to please horror fans but be warned there is a lot of talking going on.
I did not mind the talking and drama but the one thing that did disappoint me was the fact that it took the entire film before Frankenstein and The Mummy battled it out and the battle itself was less than epic. On the good side there are a number of very cool kills along the way with some good gore and I thought the cast did a good job all things considered.
"Frankenstein VS. The Mummy" is not an instant classic but I some how enjoyed it regardless of its faults. If you like the monsters from yesterday then I recommend checking out this decent little film that brings enough good things with it to enjoy.
