The Place For The Latest Movie Reviews
Cast: Daniel Bonjour, Anne Clare Lush, Marshal Hilton
A brilliant quantum physicist is on the verge of discovering the secret of the space time continuum when the government shuts him down. His quest to see his research to the end becomes paramount when his fiancé is killed. His only hope to avert his lonely fate is to travel back in time and save her life.
'Fate' tells the story of Connor Hughes, a quantum physicist who is teamed with Jonas as a part of a government experiment to proof that time travel is not possible but when Agent Spencer sees that they are actually close to creating a time machine his boss tells him to shut it now.
Connor is also engaged to the beautiful April. He unwillingly neglects her because of his work but things get complicated because his assistant, Julia has a thing for him. One day April catches the two kissing and before Connor can explain what really happened April is hit by a car and killed. A year goes by before Connor and Jonas get back together in secret to finish their time machine in hopes of Connor going back in time to save April.
As the title suggests Connor wants to go back in time in order to save the love of his life and alter fate, but sometimes that comes with consequences. 'Fate' is an Independent film from Director, Dan Sheldon. He also co-wrote the film with Michael King. It is easy to see that the film was done on a very small budget. Everything is kept simple from the effects to the settings but you can also tell that Shelton got the most out of what he had to work with.
The story starts off a bit slow but once April is killed, it picks up and the intrigue and suspense both go up a few notches as well. What the film lacks in budget it makes up for in story and heart. Like any low budget film the acting can be hit or miss but the lead actor, Daniel Bonjour who plays Connor is excellent. As is Jerry Hoffman who plays his partner, Jonas.
I was a bit leary of the film at first but it certainly got a lot better as as the story progressed and I really thought it had a perfect ending. 'Fate' is an engaging and thought-provoking film which ask the question, Would you tempt fate for the one you love? The film is Dan Sheldon's feature film debut as a director and though it is not perfect it is an entertaining film and I look forward to seeing what he does next behind the camera.
'Fate' is a Sci-Fi/Thriller/ Romance that keeps your interest all the way to the end. If you like time travel films then I highly recommend checking out this only offering. You will be glad you did. Fate will be available on Digital HD, including Amazon Prime, Google Play and Vimeo on Demand, on August 15th.
