Following her breakout success as the star of a killer clown horror flick, Bowie now finds herself struggling to capitalize on its success. But when she is suddenly held hostage by an unhinged fan posing as that same killer clown, horror becomes her reality as she fights to survive the night and escape before he completes his sinister plan to recreate the film’s fatal plot.
'Faceless After Dark' tells the story of Bowie, a young actress who just starred in a successful horror film. But afterwards she finds it hard to find any new roles. After her girlfriend goes out of town for a job Bowie is left alone alone with her fragile mind and her social media accounts that full of perverts sending her nasty messages. When a man breaks in wearing the killer clown mask from her last film Bowie is able to over take him and she kills him.
This takes her over the edge as she begins to lure her "fans" over to the house one by one to extract justice for their nasty behavior and to male and finish her new masterpiece.
'Faceless After Dark" is a horror film that also sheds light on social media and how it opened to flood gates for those who are sick in the head such as as perverts and pedophiles.
They film uses loud music, strobe lights and lots of color to create the effect of what is going on inside Bowie's head. It is slow moving at first first but it quickly changes into a brutal and violent take on a young woman who has lost her grip on reality.
The film is Raymond Wood's first feature film behind the camera and he did a great job keeping it moving at a nice pace while keeping the atmosphere thick with plenty of suspense and tension. Finally, one of the biggest strengths the film has was the acting. Everyone in the film did a great job but Jenna Kanell(Terrifier franchise) owns the film with her strong performance as Bowie.
'Faceless After Dark' is an effective horror film and a cautionary tale of social media and the dangers that lurk within. In Select Theaters and on Digital Platforms May 17th so be sure to check it out.
