"Be very very quiet... I'm hunting rabbits" - Father Asher
All hell breaks loose when Peter Cottontail aka The Easter Bunny hears that the Catholic Church is about to do away with all Easter rituals not pertaining directly to the resurrection of Christ. With Father Asher (A warrior priest) hot on his trail Cottontail starts a rampage leaving the bodies of the clergy (and a few schoolgirls) in his wake. Can Asher stop him before its too late? Only one thing is certain: March 26th is gonna be a bad hare day!
"Easter Casket" follows Father Asher, a Priest who can make medieval like armor appear at will in order to do battle with all things evil. He gets called upon by the Mega Pope and is instructed to find out who killed a nun but by the time he arrives to investigate the body count has already risen. He befriends a school girl after he finds out that she is being hunted by something or someone. After visiting a local cardinal he finds out that the killer is the Easter Bunny who is pretty angry that the church is trying to remove him and everything he represents from the holiday. Now it is up the brave Priest to hunt down and kill the demonic Peter Cottontail before it is too late.
To talk anymore about the plot here isn't going to do anyone any good because this is a film that needs to be seen to be believed. Director, Dustin Mills is known for making no budget films that are not only inventive but entertaining as well. Just when I thought the man couldn't be anymore creative and bizarre along comes his latest film, "Easter Casket" about a horny and violent bunny that plans on taking over the world one religious figure at a time. The film is just wrong, it pushes all the wrong buttons and it is highly offensive but that is why the film is so damn golden. Like I already stated to talk too much about what happens in the film would only ruin it for those waiting to see it but I can tell you that it is going to offend some people out there but that is ok because they are part of the crowd that just doesn't get anything Dustin makes in the first place. His imagination is what makes all his films insanely terrific but this one really pushes the limit as far as being controversial. So if you get offended easy stay clear but if you already dig Dustin's creative, nothing is safe approach then this is an instant classic you need to see.
The cast including Josh Eal, Erin R. Ryan, Brandon Salkil and Allison Fitzgerald all did a fantastic job playing their roles as did the rest of the supporting cast. The film isn't without issues but that is to be expected from a no-budget movie like this but everything about the film, the gore, the effects, puppets and the female nudity make the film so much damn fun you easily over-look the flaws. The film is so wrong but that is what makes it so damn good. If you're a fan of everything Dustin I highly recommend seeing this film now, this is by far his most offensive, outrageous and delicious film to date, just in time for the Easter weekend.
I cannot recommend ordering this film enough, you can do so by visiting it's Official Site HERE.
This man needs a budget and free reign, with those two the sky is the limit.
