It doesn’t move, it doesn’t think, it just kills! For one young woman, a chance encounter with this supernatural entity proves devastating. Frankie learns that once you see the mannequin, there may be no end in sight, except for your own.
After a gang of criminals unintentionally unleashes a supernatural force onto the world, a young woman named Frankie is convinced she’s being stalked by a killer mannequin. Frankie soon realizes that her friends are in jeopardy too. She must find the man who holds the key to stopping the killings, but Frankie knows that once you see the mannequin, there may be no end in sight, except for your own.
Don't Look Away' is a new supernatural "doll" horror except inside of the same old we get a Mannequin that doesn't talk or move but it sure knows how to kill anyone that sees it and looks way. Expect for Frankie who witnesses it first hand but she doesn't die because this supernatural force has other plans.
The film sets the scene with an amazing opening scene that features multiple kills. Afterwards it slow its pace and introduces us to the characters which consists of Frankie and her friends. There is also Frankie's boyfriend Jonah who thinks she is imagining the mannequin and instead begins to think she is making out with one of her friends. This sends him into a "shining" like craze of drinking and typing out mannequin over and over again as his thesis paper. Frankie must figure out a way to end this all before no one is left alive.
Writers, The Micheals and Director, Micheal Bafaro have crafted not only an engaging horror film but one that is full of drama, suspense and atmosphere. It is creepy right from that start and it remains that way until the very end. Another thing that made the film so good was the cast, everyone was great including Michael Mitton Colm Hill but the real stars of the film are Kelly Bastard as Frankie, she does an amazing job playing this "haunted" young lady. The other star is the mannequin itself. Like I said it may not move or walk around but it is so disturbing looking and it showing up everywhere is both creepy and disturbing.
'Don't Look Away' delivers its horror in a number of ways including its killing but mainly its atmosphere and its ability to invoke fear through its imagery. You will never look at another store's mannequin in the same way again. A new horror icon has been born so be sure check out this frightening gem when it opens in theaters 9/1/23.
