14-year-old Annabel lives with her fisherman grandfather on an island paradise. She is surrounded by an extended family of loving but quirky neighbors and her best friend - a dolphin named Mitzy.
'Dolphin Island' tells the story of 14-year-old Annabel who lives with her grandfather on a beautiful island in the Bahamas. After losing her parents in a diving accident 10 years ago she has been raised by her grandfather.
She helps her grandfather with his crab fishing business and when she isn't doing that or going to school you can find her hanging out with her best friend Minzy who just happens to be a very smart dolphin. Living on the island is paradise and the community is like one big family. But trouble comes one day when they find out that Annabel's other grandparents who have lots of money and live in New York want to take Annabel away from Jonah. Annabel and Jonah share a special relation that is very visible to anyone that spends time with them and that goes for a local social worker who helps fight back against Annabel's other grandparents and their crooked lawyer.
'Dolphin Island' is the kind of film we all need right now. It is a story about good versus evil but it is also a story about family and it shows that no matter how bad things get love wins every time.
The cast including the locals did a fantastic job playing their roles. And the film's location is like a character all by itself. The film was shot in the Grand Bahama island between hurricane Dorian and COVID. and while they used the time to help put money back into the community they made an award winning film in the process. Dolphin Island' is a film the entire family can sit down and enjoy together and I think that it is something we all need right now. I recommend checking out the film's Official site HERE and its Twitter page HERE Its Instagram page HERE and Facebook page HERE.
I had a great time watching and rooting for Annabel and her grandfather, it will make you cry and laugh and in the end it will leave you with a big smile on your face. 'Dolphin Island' is now playing on VOD in the U.S. and coming out March 23rd in Canada so be sure to check it out.
