"Divorce Invitation" tells the story of Mike and Dylan . Mike is deeply in love with Dylan and will do whatever it takes to marry her. After the marriage things seem to be going great but when Mike travels on a business deal the person he must ask to invest in the families restaurant is Alex, the girl that stood him up on Prom night and the girl his has never gotten over. As the two spend extended amount of time together sparks begin to fly and Mike begins to think that Alex is his true soul mate but there is one problem, the pre-nup Dylan put together says that he must throw a Divorce party for all the guests who attended his wedding in order to be let out of his marriage.
I have to be honest and say I was not expecting much from this romantic comedy. They all seems the same anymore but I soon found out that this was much more original than anything I have seen as of late. Sure the whole getting married and having an affair with the old flame has been done before but pre-nup twist was clever and original. There is plenty of laughs to be had and there is just the right amount of drama tossed in as well. As far as the ending goes some might see it coming others may not but I thought it fit the story perfectly.
One thing I noticed right from the start was just how amazing the acting was. I think it is only fair to say that everyone in the film did a fantastic job including, Jonathan Bennett, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Elliott Gould, Nadia Bjorlin and Lanie Kazan. Everyone in the film looked like they had a great time making it and that fun translates back to the audience.
"Divorce Invitation" is not going to win any major awards and it certainly is not a life changing experience but it is a very entertaining romantic comedy that tells us the grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence. I had a great time watching this and highly recommend to anyone that likes the genre. This is not just a "chick flick" either, there is enough stuff in the film for both men and the ladies.
