I don't think there's many horror fans out there they would pass up any movie that features Vampires against Werewolves, I myself love anything werewolf related so I was looking forward to this one. Knowing it was a low budget film didn't bother me one bit since I have seen some in the past that made up for their lack of budget to be really good films. Sadly I can't really same the same for "Death Hunter: Werewolves vs. Vampires" while it is ambitious I think it lacked the direction and budget to make a film especially in the special effects department. I can handle cheesy effects, hell sometimes that's half the fun but here they are bad and there are several scenes that are repeated even. The story at least on paper sounds pretty good, It's about a couple who is lost and out of gas, they stop by a diner to ask for help but before long they find out it's a hangout for a group of vampires. They take the wife but the husband escapes but later is attacked by a werewolf. If not for a stranger he would be dead but the old man saves and gives him a drug to fight against the curse, it stops him from changing fully but he still has the strength and speed of a Lycan. Now with help from his new friend he is determined to destroy the vampires and get his wife back. Directed by Dustin Rikert, this is a bit better than his previous films which isn't say a lot but at least the pacing is a little better.

"Death Hunter: Werewolves vs. Vampires" is a film I wanted to really like because I do enjoy the genre but more than anything I think it suffers from it's lack of budget. Sometimes if you don't have the assets to make a film you want then maybe you shouldn't make it. The production isn't too bad minus the effects and the acting is about what I expected, it's not good but is on line with what you see from most low-budget films like this. The rating it gets from me is for the lead actor who I thought did a pretty good job and the film's ambition. If you like the genre and have some free time to waste then maybe rent it and but I can't call it a keeper that's for sure. I try to find something good in every film I review but this one was tough. Either way pick it up and judge for yourself, it has to be worth a rental on some rainy day. The DVD comes with Special Features that include:
