A young mortician learns that not even death can stand in the way of true love. A whimsical, gothic bedtime story filled with love, loss, taxidermy, Kung Fu, and biker werewolves.

Milton Mulberry, a young mortician only loves his work that is until he sets his eyes on Lola Littleton, a blind girl in his class who has a love for taxidermy. But there is another kid in his class that has eyes for Lola, Harold Henderson who waits for Milton every day just so he can beat him up but one day Lola is waiting and she uses her love of martial arts to beat up on Harold and his goons. Milton and Lola instantly fall in love but when Lola's parents die tragically she is sent away to live with relatives. The two love birds would never see each other again...but you know the old saying, love never dies.

"Dead Hearts" is a 16 minute short film that has been at too many festivals to name here but it recently won Best Short Film at the New York Horror Film Festival giving it a total of 45 awards to date. That is very impressive but once you see the film you will understand why. There is so much to love about this twisted little love story that I call morbidly funny.

For starters I loved the narration, done of the actors speak in the film instead there is a voice over telling us the story. I absolutely loved this, the gentleman's voice was perfect for the story and the narration fit the film like a glove. The acting was sensational, Valin Shinyei and Dalila Bela were both brilliant as young Milton and Lola. And everyone else in the film was amazing as well.

And then there was the film itself, what a funny, twisted and well-written story this was. It is clever, quirky and addictive, I did not want it to end. Hats off to Writer/Director, Stephen W. Martin for making such an entertaining, original and engaging film. And congrats to his entire cast and crew as well. One other thing I must mention is how terrific the film looks and sounds. Simply beautiful on all fronts.

"Dead Hearts" is another example of all the talented film makers out there in the Indie scene who deserve to have their work seen by all. The film is currently playing the festival circuit but you can visit the film's Official web site HERE to follow it's progress and find out when and where you can see the film for yourself. "Dead Hearts" is a gem of a film that delivers on all fronts. A must see film and one I am thankful I got to see and review so I can now spread the word about it and this amazing film maker. Do yourself a favor and check it out as soon as you get the chance.
