The Place For The Latest Movie Reviews
Cast: Jean Reno, Manuel Camacho, Tobias Moretti, Eva Kuen
In a world where it takes courage to fly, a young boy nurtures a baby eagle into adulthood. Searching for their place in the world, they bond over their desire to be free.
'Brothers of the Wind' tells the story of a young boy and a baby eagle whose lives cross paths. Lukas is a young boy who lives with his father in the Austrian Alps after his mother died in their home when it caught fire. Lukas has never been the same since and mainly keeps to himself. He and his father's relationship has suffered since the tragic accident. Neither has been able to move past the event that changed their lives forever. And then there is the baby eagle, Abel who was born after his brother Cain. Both are in line to take over the skies once their father is gone but fate will change the course of all that will happen. After the father eagle is killed, the mother is left to take care of her two sons. One day while she is out in search of food Cain the bigger of the two forces Abel out of the nest. Luckily he survives the fall and is later found by Lukas.
Together they form a unique bond together as Lukas nurses the young eagle back to health and teaches him how to fly and hunt with the help of the only other human around, Danzer.
Right from the start I was taken in by how wonderful the film looked. The film was shot beautifully and the cinematography is just breath taking. The beauty never ends and the sweeping aerial shots leave you wanting more. And that is just the beginning because the story of the boy and the eagle and the story of the boy and his father will tug at your heart strings. This is one film that you will need to break out the tissues for because tears of sorrow and of joy will be flowing from beginning to end.
The film only has four actors in it but they all deliver amazing performances. Manuel Camacho is fantastic as Young Lukas and Tobias Moretti is just as impressive as his father but for me the star of the film was Jean Reno who play's Danzer, the old man would try to mentor Lukas and help him find his way. Reno also narrates the film and his voice demands your attention with every spoken word.
'Brothers of the Wind' is a family film for all ages. It will melt and warm your heart at the same time. It is hard to believe that it took until now to get the film released when it was made in 2015. I found myself getting lost in the lives of all the characters and the eagle's life as well. You will find yourself caring for them all right from the start.
The film almost played out like a documentary it was that realistic and the scenes of all the animals looked as if they came right out of National Geographic. 'Brothers of the Wind' is one film you should not miss, it is the best man/animal relationship movie I have seen in a long time and it is a gem of a family film that deserves to be seen. One of the year's best films so be sure to check it out when it comes theaters and VOD June 19th.
