The Place For The Latest Movie Reviews
Cast: Helen Rogers, Alexandra Turshen, Lauren Molina, and Larry Fessenden
A night out turns deadly when three girls break into a seemingly empty mansion.
It is the Christmas season and friends, Holly, Cali and Mel are just hanging out. Bored, Cali talks the other two into going for a drive to a relative’s mansion while they are away for the holiday. The place is decked out with pool tables and video games, a golf cart and vintage cars. After seeing pictures of Asian people around the house the girls confront Cali and she finally admits that it is not a house owned by her uncle at all. Instead she use to babysit for the couple but before they can leave someone pulls up outside and enters the house. Desperate the girls decide to run out as fast as possible but in the process they run into Arthur the groundskeeper, after a struggle Arthur is pushed down the steps. The film then becomes a lesson in morals.
I am not going to go into any more plot details here so not to ruin what happens in the film but I will say that after its slow start things pick up fast as the girl’s morals are put to the test when confronted with this dire situation. This is a very horrifying psychological thriller about these three girls whose morals change greatly as the situation goes from bad to worse in a hurry. "Body" is a thought-provoking thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat the entire time and it will leave you thinking about it long after it is over. Full of tension and suspense and this is a disturbing film that pushes the boundaries when it comes to doing the right thing or not.
The film's three female leads, Helen Rogers, Alexandra Turshen, and Lauren Molina all give strong and impressive performances. They play off each other perfectly and they give convincing performances. "Body" opens theatrically on December 11th and on VOD nationwide December 29th so be sure to check your local listing to see if it is playing near you. I don't think this is for everyone but if you like this kind of thriller then I highly recommend checking out this little gem. Credit has to go out to Writers/Directors, Dan Berk and Robert Olsen for creating such a potent story that provides the right atmosphere and mood.
