Since childhood, Alex has been a big fan of the fantasy film saga Arthur and the Minimoys. So his best friends surprise him with a special present for his 18th birthday: a trip to the abandoned country house where the saga was set. What begins as a weekend adventure, quickly turns into a deadly nightmare...
Director Barthélémy Grossmann expands the fantasy saga "Arthur and the Minimoys" which brings the original animated, family film to adult audiences with a horror spin that is sure to please fans. The above synopsis is about all you need to know before watching the movie and it isn't hard to follow if you never saw the animated films.
The film starts off great with a voice-over telling us about Alex, a young boy who loves the world of Arthur. It is Alex's birthday and he has he friends over to watch the trilogy with him. Forward ten years and Arthur is having his 18th birthday and his friends have a special gift for him, they are going on a road to see the house that was used in the movie.
After getting lost and having a few creepy encounters they finally make it to their destination. Everyone is excited and they are looking forward to seeing more the next day but it isn't long before strange things begin happening and the group starts getting picked off one by one. Now Alex and his remaining friends will have to fight to stay alive.
The film was Produced & Written by Luc Besson so I was expecting something great here so in the end I was a bit disappointed but the film taking so long to get to the action and the kills being off camera was a downer as well but I enjoyed the final act and the entire cast. Maybe with a bit more money they can make a sequel and make it better. Still, I some how enjoyed the film more than I should have. It you are a fan of the animated film or just a fan of horror I recommend checking it out when it comes to VOD and Digital on 02/03/23.
