Approaching Midnight is a gripping action-crime-drama that follows young Army staff sergeant Wesley Kent's return to his small town after being wounded in the war in Afghanistan. Coping with burying his best friend from the war (Brandon T. Jackson), he must now endure the news of the death of his girlfriend Aspen (Jana Kramer) who passed away in a car accident while he was away. Seeking information about her accident, his unanswered questions grow as he begins to uncover a web of mysterious circumstances, possible corruption and greed that may lead all the way to Aspen’s father, the town's Mayor, and his run for Governor.
Any soldier endures a lot being away from their loved ones and in a foreign land with enemies that want them dead so coming home from the war should be a joyous occasion for anyone in the military and their families but for Wesley Kent it was not that easy. First he had to come home and face burying his best friend and facing his friend's wife for the first time. That alone would be had enough but after arriving he finds out his girlfriend was killed in a car crash. When Wesley starts asking question he is met with hostile replies and even approached and warned by the town's local Sheriff to let things go. It seems like the town's Mayor and father of Wesley's girlfriend is covering out her death for his political career.
"Approaching Midnight" is a story of a soldier who returns home in hopes of regaining his life back but instead he is met with resistance every time he goes looking for answers. This is a well-written crime drama that pulls you into Wesley's life almost immediately and it keeps you interested the entire time as you wait to know more. Sam Logan Khaleghi worn many hats as far as making this film. He not only stars as Wesley but he also directed, wrote and produced the film as well. That in itself is very impressive but considering how terrific the story is and how well made the film is makes it that much more impressive. As far as the acting goes Sam is not only, the film also stars Jana Kramer (""One Tree Hill", "Entourage", "90210", "Friday Night Lights", Prom Night, winner of the New Female Vocalist of the Year Award and nominated for Top New Artist of the Year by the Academy of Country Music Awards, Nominated for the 2013 Teen Choice Awards for Female Country Artist, Brandon T. Jackson and Mia Serafino. Everyone including the supporting cast did a fantastic job playing their roles.
With all the brainless films that come out this time of year it was nice to see a smart, clever crime drama for a change. Political intrigue, drama and amazing performances make this a must see film. I am not going to go into anymore details about the story so not to ruin it for those that are waiting to see it but I will say that it will have you hooked right from the start and glued to the screen till the very end. You can visit the film's Official site HERE and its Facebook page HERE. to find out when and where you can see the film.
"Approaching Midnight" tells a tale of Political corruption that is both thought-provoking and engaging. I highly recommend checking it out.
