In the frenetic underbelly of Los Angeles, Agent Maxwell (Dolph Lundgren) closes in on an international cocaine smuggling operation run by criminal mastermind Vincent Camastra (Vinnie Jones). When Agent Beverly Royce goes undercover with the drug dealers and finds herself deeper then she can handle - the case becomes personal for Maxwell who has to combat ruthless killers and dirty cops (Randy Couture), in an all-out action-filled finale to bring the criminals to justice.

"Ambushed" is a cop thriller that centers on DEA Agent, Maxwell who is getting close to bringing down a big drug smuggling operation but it is not going to be easy because he also has to deal with his girlfriend who has gone uncover and may have already gotten in too deep as well as a bad cop who is looking for his own action.

This is one of Lundgren's better films. There is more story here than action even if we have seen it all before. But since it is more character and story driven the flaws also show more. The biggest flaw I could find was in the acting, for the most part everyone did a good job playing their roles but the one weak link to me was Randy Couture who plays the shady cop. The guy just doesn't have the acting ability to pull it off. If this were an all out action film with little plot he would of done just fine but since he needed to act in the film his lack there of really shows. I thought the rest of the cast did a fine job including Lundgren and Vinnie Jones who always brings his "A" game.

The story is predictable like I already stated but it does toss in a some twists and turns along the way to keep you interested. This is definitely an entertaining film all the way to the end. And speaking of the end I liked it until the very end, I think they could of closed the film out a bit better.

I think everyone enjoys a Dolph Lundgren film and since this one is a bit more intelligent than what he is normally in it makes for a more interesting ride, he doesn't have the screen time he normally has since there are multiple story-lines going on here which means more characters but he is in it enough for fans to enjoy.

Ambushed" could of been a better film but I found it to be entertaining enough to recommend checking out. Available on DVD and Blu-ray/DVD Combo Pack, you can order the DVD HERE and The Combo Pack HERE.
