The Place For The Latest Movie Reviews
Cast: Adrienne King, Daren Ackerman, Alexander Fraser, Alicia Rose
Three friends try to cope after one of them is victimized by a bully, and their lives are slowly torn apart as the they fall deeper into a twisted web of buried secrets, ignorance, and revenge. Through it all, Principal Kane (Friday the 13th’s Adrienne King) rules her small town high school with an iron fist, teaching harsh lessons to students and faculty alike. The vicious cycle leads to a disturbing and violent conclusion where it turns out no one is truly innocent.
"All American Bully" tells the story of three high school friends, Devon, Becky and Garrett. All three friends are bullied by John Brooks and his coons. When John takes Devon's new expensive book, it leads to even more violence and bullying that spreads from the streets to social media but when Devon decides to get revenge it all take a deadly turn.
I am not going to go into any more plot details here so not to ruin the whole film for those of you that are waiting to see it, I will instead talk about the film itself. "All American Bully" is another in a long line of films that deal with a major problem in our country today, bullying. Sadly bullying has spread from the streets to the internet thanks to social media. Even celebrities bully each other online almost every day and they are supposed to be leading by example do to their celebrity status. The film also takes a look at what can happen when things get out of control when revenge is taken. There really is no winner from this type of behavior.
I was not expecting anything great here considering that the film was done on a thin budget but I ended up being surprised at how good it was and how powerful the messages were. The story is dramatic and it has a few twists/secrets as well that slowly get revealed as the film moves along which enhances the story.
And lastly the acting, I again was not expecting a whole lot in this department. The film bills itself around having the legendary, Adrienne King(Friday The 13th)being in it and she does give a solid performance as the school principal but the four main leads all deserve mention as well. Daren Ackerman, Alexander Fraser, Alicia Rose and Darren Hicks all give very good, realistic performances. They make it very easy for the audience to care about them all in one or another.
"All American Bully" deals with bullying and abuse in a disturbing but eye-opening way. I enjoyed the film but but I have to admit it is at times hard to watch so be advised. The film was taken four years to find distribution, I find that strange but thanks to Wide Eye Releasing the film will not find the audience it deserves. Sure it has its issues mostly due to the films budget but its heart is in the right place and its messages are loud and clear. Check it out today.
