The Place For The Latest Movie Reviews
Cast: Ralph Macchio, F. Murray Abraham, Janeane Garafalo, Rachel Dratch, Olympia Dukakis, Makenna Ballard
Ostracized at her posh new uptown school and shaken by the death of her beloved grandmother, a 10 year-old downtown girl finds an unlikely mentor in the form of an irascible chess-master, who uses the game to teach Max lessons in resilience, perseverance, and how to embrace inevitable change.
"A Little Game" is a wonderful film with a fantastic script that teaches us all several life lessons. One of best things about the film is its amazing cast. The cast consists of veterans, Ralph Macchio, F. Murray Abraham, Janeane Garafalo and Olympia Dukakis. Those alone are reason enough to check it out but the film's brightest star is Makenna Ballard who plays Max. It is hard to believe that this was her first acting gig because she looks like a pro. It is amazing to watch her and F. Murray Abraham play off each other.
The film has a "Karate Kid" feel to it which is why Ralph Macchio was so eager to do the film but it also brings its own ideas to the table as well. Credit must also go out to Director, Evan Oppenheimer who also wrote this terrific script.
"A Little Game" is a fantastic little gem that the whole family can enjoy together. Available now on DVD with Special Features that include:
