The Place For The Latest Movie Reviews
Cast: Jack Guasta, Alan Rowe Kelly, Marv Blauvelt, Deneen Melody
Sexual Parasites, Disembowelment, Zombies, Serial Killers, Demon Children, Violent Vixens, Rabid Office Workers and Angry Embryos all spring to life from the flesh covered sketch books featured in Anthony G. Sumner's (Gallery of Fear) SLICES OF LIFE. Mira (Kaylee Williams) awakens in front of a seedy roadside motel with amnesia. She searches for clues to her identity in the pages of three bound sketchbooks, in which each book represents a different aspect of everyday life, maybe her life. WORK LIFE A lowly clerk at a nano technology firm unleashes a deadly virus at the office headquarters, giving new meaning to the term corporate zombie. HOME LIFE As local girls begin to disappear, a young pregnant woman is haunted by visions of evil demonic children hell bent on stealing her unborn fetus. SEX LIFE A young brother and sister on the run from a sexually abusive home life, take refuge in a countryside Victorian manor- only to discover the monsters hidden in this house have been looking for a new home. Convinced that the characters from these books are roaming around the motel, Mira's reality begins to crumble. Are these visions real or is she going insane? Desperate, Mira turns to the motel caretakers (Marv Blauvelt and Helene Alter-Dyche), only to discover the true evil bound in the flesh covered books and the destiny they hold for her.
"III Slices of Life" is a new Horror Anthology from writer-director Anthony G. Sumner, this is his first full-length feature film and if this is any indication we are in for a string of great films from him. Like any Anthology Slices is mixed bag of horror ranging from zombies to a young lady with a certain gift or curse depending on how you look at it. The first story titled "Work Life" is about a computer virus that effects those sitting at their computers at the time turning them into zombies, the genre has been done so many times but the story is fun, original and full of blood and guts which is sure to please any fan. The second film, "Home Life" about a group of vengeful ghosts who come back to confront the pedophile that killed them. I thought this story as a bit better than the first, it had some nice spooky moments and a story that grabs your attention and has you hanging on till the very end. The final story, "Sex Life" is a bout a couple who hit the road to escape their sexually abusive uncle but what their about to find is something much worse. This to be was the best story of the three filled with loads of blood and balls to the wall horror, you are sure to eat this up. Director Anthony G. Sumner really has a pulse on the genre and more importantly he knows exactly what horror fans want.
The acting is another bonus here, the entire cast did a terrific job at playing their roles, Kaylee Williams who play's Mira, a young lady whose sketches come to life, Kaylee is a beautiful and talent young actress who I see going places. The film also stars the busiest actress in Indie horror right now, Deneen Melody. Deneen is so talented and beautiful as well, I never thought a woman soaked in blood could still be sexy but she manages to pull it off. The rest of he cast members do a terrific job as well, as far as acting goes I have no complains, in fact I was very impressed. "III Slices of Life" has been getting major buzz for some time now so I am a little late and I'm sure you heard it all before but let me just tell you the hype is real and if you're a fan of horror you owe it to yourself not to miss seeing this Indie gem, it easily films into my top five movies of the past year. Slices is currently playing on your cable providers ON DEMAND and the DVD will be released on June 7th. You can order it HERE.
